How to assembly snow chains.

Do not wait till the snow day arrives to place the chains. Try placing them in order to check that the measure acquired is the right measure so as to familiarize with its use. Before beginning with their assembly please read the instructions provided.

Where are placed the snow chains?

It would be necessary to distinguish whether the vehicle has total traction (4x4) or if it only has traction on an axle (4x2) .

1. Total traction vehicle (4x4): It would be orthodox to place chains on the tour wheels, however, if we only had a set, these shall be always placed on the front axle since they are those which lose the most of traction, resides they deal with direction change, therefore it will always be more convenient to have it with the most adhesiveness possible.
2. Vehicle with traction only on an axle: In this case the chains must be always placed on the propelling wheels.

Instruccions of use

Before buying the chains you should consult the handbook of the vehicle and check the measure of the tyre.

Assembly and dismantelation of snow chains

• Assembly of metallic chain E-9 y 4x4

Assembly of metallic chain E-9 y 4x4

Step 1

Take the chain out of its container holding so that the red rubber of the knob will be left to the right.

Step 2

Spread the chain all over the floor and make the flexible cable cross behind the wheel, from right to left.

Paso 3

Pick the chain of the wheel ¾ up pulling it to you in order to finish with the extremes on the top of the tyre.

Paso 4

Hook both extremes of the flexible cable.

Step 5

Push the flexible cable backwards and centred the chain a little bit.

Step 6

Hook the chain.

Step 7

Cross the chain through the groove of the taut.

Step 8

Cross the chain through the groove of the taut.

Step 9

Pull the chain the most in order to taut the chain.

Step 10

Hook the bolt on any link located on the opposite extreme of the bolt.

Step 11

Pull the chain from the extreme tightening the chain, till you have manager to hook i ton a link situated on the opposite extreme of the bolt.

Dismantelation: To dismantle the chain, follow the same steps from the last to the first one.

Attention. Each chain is adaptable to several tyres since it is difficult to achieve a perfect adaptation from the first moment. To achieve a better adaptation it is recommended to repeat the strain operation through the "criqueto" (step 9) and final towing hook after a brief route or at least turn the wheel twice.

Assembly of metallic chain for truck E-3000

Step 1

Spread the chain well all over the floor behind the propelling wheel so that the elastic knob will be left to the right.

Step 2

Displace the vehicle till the wheel has been left on the wheel. Leave the more stretch of the chain behind the wheel.

Step 3

Pick the chain left on the floor up till leaning it on the wheel.

Step 4

Hook the golden extreme together with the link of the chain which is left on the internal part of the truck.

Step 5

Hook the golden extreme together with link of the chain which is left on the external part of the truck.

 

Step 6

Cross the black rubber of the knob through all the hoops in an anticlockwise direction and tout the chain.

Step 7

Introduce the metallic adjuster (metallic sheet marked with the engraving of the chain) in on the links of the chain knob.

Step 8

Pull the metallic adjuster backwards till you have fitted it together with the free hoop.

Step 9

Tout the chain stretching the rubber knob till you have hooked it with a link of the opposite extreme.

Assembly of textile chain

Attention. The wheels equipped with textile chains can move stones or ice pieces. Make sure nobody is behind the vehicle when you start. Be always alert while driving a vehicle equipped with this mechanism.

Attention.Fix&Go Tex covers must be installed on a flat floor (null slope!) and on the driving wheels.

Step 1

Introduce the cover through the internal part of the tyre.

Step 2

Place the rest of the cover on the wheel.

Step 3

Displace the vehicle till the wheels have turned 180 degrees, not introducing the part of cover on the top of the vehicle.

Step 4

Place the part of cover left outside the tyre till you have covered the tyre completely.

Dismantelation of the textile chain

Step 1

Pull outwards of the tab which are situated on the top of the cover.

Step 2

Push the cover until you have taken it out of the tyre.

Step 3

Displace the vehicle until the cover has been set loose.

Attention

• The use of any snow chain can distort the data which the electronic systems of stability and traction receive (ESP, VDIM, VSC, LSD, TRC,…. and so on and so forth), this is the reason why you will have to follow the instructions indicated on the handbook by the manufacturer of your vehicle to deactivate and/or adapting them to chain driving.
• These chains are adapted to different tyre measures. In order to achieve the right tension, we recommend that you perform the step 5 again after a short route or at least after ¼ of wheel turning.
• To preserve the good estate of the chains, wash them with hot water after using them and leave them drying before keeping them on their container.

Important: Read these instructions carefully before installing the chains on you automobile.

Recommendations

• You will have to consider that when you assemble the ice and snow chains, the behaviour of the vehicle is modified while circulating on road without ice and/or snow, that’s why a major crossed for the braking will be required.
• You will have to check whether the chains adjust perfectly or are placed correctly and constantly on the tyres. The chain is correctly adjusted when is centered on the wheel and does not have space. A chain which is incorrectly adjusted (excessively loose) can hit the vehicle. In this case you will have to check the adjustment and tight it. At the beginning and on the first meters of the route it is recommended to stop and check the gives or if the hook has been undone, touting them if necessary.
• Another important observation to consider is that the tyres will have to be inflated on the right pressure indicated by the manufacturer of the vehicle, despite using chains..
• The chains are made of quality steel, but they are not stainless, this way it does not influence on their quality their having a light rust layer.
• Once the chains are installed, the operation of the vehicle can vary, therefore: avoid slamming and accelerate abruptly, never drive more than 50 km/h on a terrain without ice or snow.
